Reading about models and tools is useful.
But when someone asks you to lead an AI initiative, you need to ask different questions:
Understand why AI projects require an iterative, responsible approach to delivery.
Frame business problems, evaluate AI fit and define outcomes and feasibility.
Identify required data, constraints, infrastructure and responsible data use.
Address data quality, suitability, compliance and preparation for model work.
Manage iterative model development and cross-functional delivery.
Test AI systems against performance, reliability and business expectations.
Plan deployment, adoption, monitoring, governance and ongoing improvement.

No. PMI lists no prior project management, technical or AI experience as a requirement, and CPMAI™ is a management and governance methodology, not a coding one. It fits project, program and product managers, business analysts, PMO leaders and consultants. It is not the right path if you want to become a machine learning engineer.
PMI’s self-paced course gives you the 21 hours of material and the exam voucher. With us you get the same 21 hours taught live, so you can ask questions as they come up, plus a practice exam, study guides, extra practice questions and weekly office hours through the CPMAI Prep Lab.
21 hours of live instruction, your exam voucher, an official PMI practice exam, and CPMAI Prep Lab access. Finish the course and you can schedule your exam at no additional cost.
Exam voucher is good for only One Year.
120 multiple-choice questions in 160 minutes (100 scored, 20 unscored), taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online with a proctor. It covers five domains: Responsible AI (15%), Business Needs (26%), Data Needs (26%), Model Development and Evaluation (16%) and Operationalization (17%). PMI does not publish a passing score, so we teach to the full content outline.
The questions are scenario-based: they test your judgment as a project leader, not memorization or coding. Plan study time after class using the practice exam and the Prep Lab question bank. Recommend to plan for 20 hours of studying.
PMI sets the retake rules and fees. Bring your results to office hours and the Prep Lab and we’ll target the domains that need work.
